Matthew Neill

I first strapped on a Saxophone, nearly 20 years ago, it was a Tenor Saxophone, and to say it was a little too big, was a clear understatement. At age 8, I stood about 4’ 8”, (check this) yeah short I know, and the tenor stands at 3’6”, so that left very little ground clearance… plus it was super heavy for my little muscles. But for some reason, while all the other kids hovered around the Alto sax, the trumpet, the drums and the line up for electric guitar went a long way out the door, I ended up with a Tenor Sax. After going halves in the purchase with my parents, (all my primary school savings invested) I was the proud owner of a seriously shiny Tenor Saxophone, and the only one in the band to be playing Tenor. Suddenly I had a lot of growing to do to be able to hold it up.
